Design of Interactive Protocols that Help Students to Prepare for Laboratory Work
نویسندگان
چکیده
Laboratory education makes up an extensive part of natural science at universities. To support meaningful learning during laboratory work, students should prepare by carefully studying the protocols. The aim this study was to design and evaluate a preparative material that focuses on protocol steps with goal help (i) understand “why” (reason or theory) steps, (ii) make practical choices, (iii) do troubleshooting. reach goal, have been enriched theoretical, practical, troubleshooting, and/or calculation questions form interactive This process resulted in list choices (i.e., when include question how question) showcase These protocols were implemented evaluated real educational setting. From evaluation results, it concluded successful preparing for work. After reported more diverse slightly less positive contribution their understanding ability choices. A significant difference found perceived usefulness troubleshooting before versus after which is suggested as topic further investigation.

Approaches that Help Students Generate New Design Solutions
Recently a new design methodology, EnvironmentBased Design (EBD) [1, 2] has been developed. In using the model of EBD, three elements are important: primitive synthesis knowledge, primitive environment and primitive solutions. Based on the three elements, three design strategies have been validated in [3] for generating new design solutions: formulating design problems differently, changing the...
متن کاملStudents’ Laboratory Work Performance Assessment
Laboratory activities are very important in engineering education. Performance assessment of students’ laboratory work is time consuming and an ongoing challenge for teachers. Laboratory work performance assessment is traditionally done by the teacher grading students’ written report of the laboratory activity, despite the fact that the report is often 'doctored'. Assessment of laboratory work ...

متن کاملinvestigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures
deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...
